Magic House: Kitchen Reveal {Part 1}

Okay, so that item I mentioned I was waiting on yesterday? It never came in. Well, they sent something but it was incorrect. I ordered a gorgeous kitchen cart for the empty space by the fridge from Overstock.com that was delivered two weeks ago. However, the cart was missing a vital component. They promised to send the missing part yet what I got yesterday was not it. After some frustration and long conversations over the phone, they are finally just going to resend the entire cart so I can pick the missing item out. Which is what they should have done in the first place.

So the kitchen is still not technically complete. But you know what? That’s okay.

I said my kitchen reno updates would reflect what I am actually living with as I live with it. So who cares if the cart is still not in for our juice bar? (okay I seriously care but am trying to play it cool).

The reality is, I have had to look at that empty space for awhile now but I can still share where we are today. So I am going to do a “pre-lived in” reveal now and after the cart is up and running, I will share a “lived-in” reveal as well.

Here it is.

My cute little country inspired kitchen.

DSC_0060 This is what you see when you first walk into the kitchen.

DSC_0021 I found this cute sign at this awesome local store in town called Distinctive Decor last night.

It hangs on the left wall.

DSC_0022 I also found this mini cutting board with the letter “K” ( I love my Ks) and it hangs next to the back door. That store is going to be dangerous for me because it has everything home related I have ever drooled over in it. DSC_0027

This is the stove/microwave area. We eventually want to get rid of the microwave. DSC_0032

The other L-Shaped counter with yummy mint growing in a pot on the window and the fridge and the still empty space next to it which will hopefully look different next Tuesday.

DSC_0041 I decided to make a chalkboard and small herb garden for the space.

This is my first attempt at drawing on my DIY chalkboard. DSC_0019

We also decided to hang some yummy herbs above the future juice cart. DSC_0044

As a last minute decision we decided to install lights under the cabinets. DSC_0101

They use a motion sensor and come on as you walk by only if the main lights are not on.

DSC_0100 These lights may have been a last minute decision but now I can’t imagine the space without them. DSC_0099

We decided to make this open cabinet the wine cabinet! I plan on getting a wine holder soon but for now this works! DSC_0048

And in case you forgot, here are some before and after shots: side view

I love how open the kitchen has become. pantry door

The Navajo White paint really brightens the space. oven

And the concrete counters really bring new life into the space. Enterance

Simple. Clean. Lovely. Country meets chic. DSC_0059

I am one happy cook. DSC_0058
