A few weeks ago I got to experience the latest craze in yoga; SUP.
For those who are like me and are unhip in acronyms, SUP stands for Stand Up Paddle board. Yes, I had to look that up when my instructor told me she was going to start offering SUP classes and even after looking it up, I struggled with remembering it.
I am from a time when ‘sup was used as a shortened way to say ‘what’s up’ but I digress. I experienced some SUP one weekend and loved it.
Balancing was pretty tough and really worked me out. The wind didn’t help with my balance either.
I loved the experience because I was able to challenge myself but about half way through I realized I wasn’t really doing yoga; I was doing poses and taking some cool pictures.
Which, don’t get me wrong was great. That was the whole purpose of us going out that day; we were taking some pictures to put on the studios new brochures and cards (which ohemgee I am on a brochure!) but I wasn’t able to really get into my yogic state of mind.
I definitely plan on going again for an actual class because I think trying to remain present on my
mat board would prove to be challenging for my mind and body. The day we went out was beautiful, bright and full of cheer from everyone.
You know what? Even this little fury guy came out because it was so nice out!
Sorry for the scare fest! I had to take a picture of this big guy. He terrified me when I found him near my bag but he was minding his own business and I left him to it. No worries, I didn’t take home any stowaways.
I was able to tag along with the owner of the studio I attend and the woman I credit with showing me the yoga path, both who are my teachers.
D-Money and Nala came with us and Nala even got in on the craze!
She wanted off pretty quickly though.
Mainly she wanted some of mamas attention.
Okay she wanted all of the attention.
The hubby did a pretty impressive headstand.
I love love love this picture of two of my favorite woman making the pose I find super challenging look easy, graceful and flawless.
I am so thankful I was included on this fun day and definitely plan to attempt a class in the near future so I can give a more detailed description of what it’s like doing some SUP! But for now I leave you with my favorite picture of the day.
